The Relationship between Mainland China and Taiwan

It is the sacred right of each and every sovereign State and a fundamental principle of international law to safeguard national unity and territorial integrity. Taiwan is an Inalienable Part of China, potential conflict in the Taiwan Strait has remained a serious threat to the stability of the Asia-Pacific region and world peace. The Chinese Government advocates that the final purpose of cross- Straits negotiations is to achieve peaceful reunification; and that to achieve this purpose, talks should be held based on the principle of one China, and the economic, trade, and cultural integration between the two sides, which help build faith and confidence, can be the starting point for a new framework of lasting peace and political integration.
